srober Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I have had no website design experience so this is my first version of the store. I was asked by a few friends to see if I could self teach myself. I am actually going to college for this but have not covered any web designing type courses yet. They have kinda of a all purpose type store name for the types of products they was selling, so I suggested to fill in the blanks with a dropshipper to give them more variety in the store well see how that goes. They really want this up for the holiday season so its semi live now while we work out the advertising and im falling way behind in school do to this site  . I just want to geter done! This is Store version 1 Things Im working on still Still waiting on logo graphic for header More products to be uploaded Trust logo missing on a few pages do to last minute......problems Enhance the site speed Re work the catagories/subs to make more since Blast away thanks
srober Posted November 6, 2005 Author Posted November 6, 2005 Please, please remember it is semi-live so dont make any false orders :P
trkshocker Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Hi, just was looking at your store. I think the scrolling bestseller box is great and I like your catalog menu. However, I think the standard oscommerce layout with all the boxes is boring and way too busy. You should look at some of the contributions like STS to make the layout better as well and move away from the standard oscommerce layout. I didn't have much experience in webdesign either, buy worked myself through some contribs and this forum to heavily modify my own store. It can be found here If you are serious about this I would spend some time looking around for different ideas to change the layout. There are lots of good examples in this section of the forum as well. Take care and have fun, but don't let it get to you. Jens
