Which category description contribution?

Recommended Posts

I am looking to add descriptions to each of my category sections. I have had a search through the contributions section and there appear to be a few different types. Can anyone recommend or link to the one they use?

Having descriptions at the top of each category when it is selected will help explain about that section and hopefully help my page rank for those terms too.

Thanks in advance.

Install the Header Tags controller. It has the option to add this text and the text is formatted for the SE's, not to mention the other benefit of the contribution.

Funnily enough I actually have Header tags installed but wasn't aware of any way to add descriptions to the categories. I am not looking for meta descriptions but a description at the top of each category so i can explain about the products in each of my different directories. I have looked in the header tag section of my admin area but couldn't sopt anything.

It depends on which version you have but the option has been in there for a while. Go to admin->catalog and click on edit for a category. You should see four fields for header tags in the right column. The last one is for the sub-heading on the page. If you only see three, or none at all, you have an older version and will need to upgrade.
