How to integrate osCommerce with existing website

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have an existing website Sequels that had a working shopping cart but the company went out of business and now I must change shopping cart services. My existing search engine is linked to an inventory tracking program so I can't dump that portion of my website. I would like to know how to link osCommerce to my site. I think pictures are worth a thousand words so here's what I mean.

From my index page you select view items

Then you select a thumbnail

Then you select add to cart

Then what I want to happen is for item to be added to osCommerce shopping cart page

I hope someone can help me with this. Thanks

I don't think it will work that way. You will need to add all of your products to oscommerce and just link to the cart from your main page. Your esiting order method will have to be removed (ignored).

I'm not familiar with it so it is difficult to say but my guess is that it cannot be done. Maybe I am misunderstanding the concept but it sounds like you have an html site with all of your products added and a tracker program to manage them. There is no easy way to map those products into the oscommerce shop in the middle of an order. Oscommerce tracks it's own products so it may do what you need without your existing code.
