SSL new installation

Hi guys,

I got through installing osCommerce, checked SSL, got myself a shared SSL account, and when I ftp`d the configure.php file to the server everything crashed, and now I have to install everything new.

My first question is: Do I have to ftp load up anything to the SSL site? (http://ssl2.world4you.com/~daldosch)

My regular URL is (www.daldosch.at), my shops location is: (www.daldosch.at/catalog)

Or do I install the osCommerce at my regular URL and have the configure.php file point to the SSL URL?

My second Question is: How can I prevent a crash for the next time? Do I always have to keep a copy of the entire actual osCommerce or ar there some key files that I have to keep up to date ?

many thanks,

Johannes

You have to change 3 lines in your configure.php file found in catalog/includes/configure.php

Contact your hoster tech dept to see what your exact path is to your shared SSL and insert them into configure.php Another thing is you'll have to change the file permission at the site to be able to upload and over write the configure file and then change it back to read only or you'll have an warning message at the top of your site page. Beware of the admin database back up, it didn't work for me, I thought I was sercure and then I had to start all over again. You should do a full backup in your CPanel backup if your hoster provides that. B)

Thanks! So I only put the path to the shared ssl into the configure file, without any folder being actually located there?

Sofar I had the entire shop located at my regular http site. Both, the catalog and the admin.
