comenius Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Hello, I'm working on a project where I need to sell the hourly use of an online service that is limited in quantity. Here's a rough example: Room #1 Available: Mon - Fri, 8 - 10 am PST Cost: $20 / Hour Room #2 Available: Sat - Sun, 2 - 6 pm PST Cost: $40 / Hour The different rooms have different prices, and different hours of availability. Once someone purchases a specific room for a specific hour, they are charged the hourly rate and the room is no longer available during that specific time period. The room would still be available for the other hours that were not purchased. In a sense, this is like using a program like MS Outlook to schedule a resource, but with a cost element involved, with the transaction occuring over the web. Is osCommerce an appropriate tool to implement this functionality? Is there something else that would be better? Thanks for your help! -Comenius
ChrisHoward Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 I dont think osCommerce would be the best option as its a little TOO much for what you need. Have you thought about just getting a quick script built that would do this? Just a thought. I think you could do it with OS but I dont know about the making the room unavailable if its purchased for that hour. That would prove tricky. Unless you had loads of items and they were like: Room 1 > 8am - 10am Room 1 > 10am - 12am etc I dont know?
comenius Posted November 6, 2005 Author Posted November 6, 2005 Thanks for your thoughts. I agree, OS may be overkill for what I'm trying to accomplish. Any scripts that come to mind that might be a good reference point for building something out?
