Guest Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Hi All I have decided to sell my work online and wondered if anyone can give me some pointers on showing my work off effectively and allowing for various options on framing etc. Although I'm proficient in most technical aspects and a fast learner I need some pointers to consider in my planning so I can fast track my store. My biggest dilemma is payments/ssl/cosmetics my development site is http://www.williamwilsonfineart.com/catalog/index.php and the hosting by smallorange has both ssl and certificate facilities, however I have no idea which payment system I should consider.
Jack_mcs Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Deciding on which payent module to use is strictkly a financial one, at least initially. PayPal is the usuall choice since there is no monthly fee. Once the volume sales reach around $1,000/month, it would be better to go with Authorize.net. If you already have your own credit card terminal and account, then you may want to consider using that instead. Guest Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Thanks for the advice Jack; at present I don't sell on the net only art galleries so PayPal would be an acceptable option. I did see some posts on problems with orders being left incomplete due to PayPal's inability to return you to the checkout.

I've installed it but not went live yet to try it out. Phil

Far as the cosmetics, it will take some learning and poking to understand how the layout structure of oscommerce work and then it's all based on you understanding of CSS. You can go pretty far out with CSS and oscommerce. check out Zen Garden to see what you can do with CSS.
