Somebody help me. I'm really just a stay-at-home mom trying to bring in extra income...

Here it is:

I've learned so much the past few weeks about building a site through OSC, but I'm stuck on centering,aligning,no scrolling issue! I've reviewed previous tips & forums here, and tried & tried, but to no avail. I am about to PAY someone to do it for me! (Oh, wait, I'm broke!lol) So, can someone help...please???

The second issue I have is you'll see on the index page of the store, at the bottom, the heading titles are reading"table_heading_products(something!)

I've invested so much time, and have gone from knowing NOTHING about building a site- to getting it where it is now.

For all you pros out there, please don't laugh when you see my site..I'm trying,ok? : )

If anyone can help, especially with the centering issue(I just want it to fit the window, and look 1/2 way professional)...I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

G

I would recommend posting a link to your shop in the "General" section under "My Store (Community Feedback)" for input on how you can make your site look better.

I won't comment on the pink background and the flashing neon top banner and what is that guy doing to that poor pig? Point is, you'll get lots of very constructive comments from people who have seen lots of OsCommerce sites. They're not trying to be mean...just helpful.

But your immediate problem and the reason your shop is too wide is the "PayPal for Business" logo is 468px wide and way to big to go in the right column. You should just get rid of it since you have another PayPal thing right above it.

Good luck.

Hi Gina. No one is going to laugh at you. Pat is right, constructive criticism can sting sometimes, but remember, you asked for it! :)

1. You are killing me with that color scheme dear. Never use pink and blue together. That is like wearing an outfit with striped pants and a polka dot shirt in the web design world ;) You need to search for web color schemes. This will give you an idea of colors should work. For example, you have 5 different font colors and at least half a dozen different font sizes. This make it very confusing and difficult for users to read and find appealing.

2. You need to ditch the flashing neon and the "cartoonish" images. Not professional. Especially the pig that is taking all the money.

3. You have a large Paypal banner in your right column that is crunching your site.

4. Look in your /catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php file and see if these two entries exist:

define('TABLE_HEADING_UPCOMING_PRODUCTS', 'Upcoming Products');
define('TABLE_HEADING_DATE_EXPECTED', 'Date Expected');

If they are not there, add them under:

define('TABLE_HEADING_NEW_PRODUCTS', 'New Products For %s');

5. You do not have SSL enabled on your site. This is important to have since you are dealing with sensitive information, including credit cards.

I would start with these items and we can go from there.

Good Luck:

OK. You guys have helped alot!! : ) Here's what I did/did not do:

1. I got rid of the 80's neon pink-replaced with a grey! And resorted to mainly black & blue-It DOES look better. Do you think so?

2. :( I really like the piggy...(shows people can save $ in my opinion

3. I ditched the 2nd paypal logo..it helped, but not completely.

4. Your instructions on the new products heading worked like a charm(THANK YOU!)

5. The customers are giving thier cc info through Paypal, not directly on my site- so I thought I could save a few bucks w/out a ssl????

BUT the centering problem is still there!!! Do you think it's my heading logo banner??
