provissoft Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Hello Community! I've got a big problem :(. After installing osCommerce on my local PC, upgrading MySQL 4 to MySQL 5 and using PHP 4, I'm not able to finish my setting ups for osCommerce, by receiving the following error message, on my local website /install/install.php?step=2. -> New Installation Database Import A test connection made to the database was NOT successful. The error message returned is: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client Please click on the Back button below to review your database server settings. If you require help with your database server settings, please consult your hosting company. <- I don't know, what to do next, cause I'm not very familar with the open source staff including MySQL, PHP and osCommerce. I only know, that PHP and MySQL are on duty since I can connect and review mySQL settings and see the osCommerce pages. Thanks for any comments! Cordt :)
admeister Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Your host/server might have an older version of mySQL running on the server. Make sure the version you're installing is compatible with your host/server.
