Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server

Hello Community!

 

I've got a big problem :(. After installing osCommerce on my local PC, upgrading MySQL 4 to MySQL 5 and using PHP 4, I'm not able to finish my setting ups for osCommerce, by receiving the following error message, on my local website /install/install.php?step=2.

Database Import

 

A test connection made to the database was NOT successful.

 

The error message returned is:

 

Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

I don't know, what to do next, cause I'm not very familar with the open source staff including MySQL, PHP and osCommerce. I only know, that PHP and MySQL are on duty since I can connect and review mySQL settings and see the osCommerce pages.

Your host/server might have an older version of mySQL running on the server. Make sure the version you're installing is compatible with your host/server.
