Upgrade from osC 1.0 to 2.2 problems

Hey all,

 

I got osCommerce from my web host, who apparently has only an old version of osCommerce for their shopping cart feature. I want to upgrade to the latest, but when I followed the instructions (moved the catalog folder to my root and tried the install from browser) I got a "FATAL ERROR: register_globals is disabled in php.ini, please enable it!"

 

I looked up other issues for this and found some advice, but to be honest, it got very confusing. I downloaded the patch file for the globals, but there are no install instructions with it.

 

Can someone please give me some advice? Sorry for the newbishness, but oi! :)

There never was an oscommerce 1.0 so you might want to check what exact version your host uses as its likely its 2.2-MS2 which is the latest version available.
