Well I like this contribution, I hope you do too. If you can modify it for the better please do so and post here. I'm no expert but it works well.

Allows customers to easily manage/edit their billing or shipping address during checkout.

Contribution is here:

I just reposted it. It should be fine now. I don't know what happened to it before.

Hope you like it.

Hi Mike,

Rather than everyone who installs this contribution repeating the job of looking for the changes you have made to the standard distribution, wouldn't it make more sense if you just told us what the changes were?

It sounds like a useful addition. I look forward to trying it!

i have a very modified store and this might have nothing to do with this contribution but

when i edit any of my billing address it also becomes the current billing address being used but if i do the same thing with shipping address then i have to choose it again to be used

i thought you might have a better idea before i start to digin the code

thx frank

I tested my site and I don't really follow what you are saying. Have you tried it on default OSC.

Basically if a buyer buys from my site, they enter their address (oscommerce assumes that the billing and shipping address is the same at first).

The next screen tells the buyer to select their shipping address and shipping method. If they want to change or edit their current selected shipping address then they can do so by clicking "change address". If they click change address then they are brought to a new screen, where they can edit their current address, or add a new one. If they just edit the current one then the billing address also changes becuase the buyer only has one address in the addressbook (again oscommerce assumes that the billing and shipping address is the same at first).

The next screen tells the buyer to select their shipping billing and payment method. If they want to change or edit their current selected billing address then they can do so by clicking "change address". If they click change address then they are brought to a new screen, where they can edit their current address, or add a new one. If they just edit the current one then the shipping address also changes becuase the buyer only has one address in the addressbook (again oscommerce assumes that the billing and shipping address is the same at first).

The only way to change the one without changing the other is to select "New Address". This way oscommerce will give you 2 or more addresses (depending on how many you have in your addressbook) to choose from.

I hope this helps.

I know this can and should be changed a bit, maybe by using the different billing and shipping address you had in "fast easy checkout", so the buyer can enter their billing and shipping address right from the start.

Mike,

This is a highly necessary contribution, thanks! I was shocked to see how hard it is to actually modify an address.

As for the quote above, I think this is logical for an oscommerce user but it might not be that obvious for a customer. I don't think a customer could understand how billing and shipping address are linked (or are the same address in fact). For the shipping address I have added that "Editing will also modify the billing address if the same address is used there." and vice versa.

Somehow I'd like to have the Edit Address Screen only 1 click away. Now, since I don't want to get rid of the address book functionality, that would mean I need two links from checkout_shipping and everything gets a little messy.

I was thinking about

- Change Adress Button leading to Delivery (or Payment) Information (w/ Address Book, New Address etc.)

- Edit link directly going to Edit Shipping (or Billing) Address

What do you guys think? Does this make sense? Is it too confusing for a customer?

This contribution has a serious flaw if used with Purchse without an Acoount by Ingo

The PWA buyers are called "Guest"

now when a subsequent Guest goes to checkout, and then clicks Change address , they SEE PREVIOUS "GUESTS" shipping entries... not good!

Is there a way to prevent this?

Thanks for the help
