chooch Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Hi I have just used the osCommerce download function for the first time and got it working pretty well. I tested it with a .zip file containing just one .txt file Once the transaction is completed and I am returned to the checkout_success.php page, i can do the ollowing: I can hit the download link and the file opens up there and then OR I can right-click and save I have uploaded a small movie file. Is there a way where I can substitute the download option and the right-click option and have the movie file play in page on my site such as catalog/movie1.php The idea is to allow customers to view clips or full (short) movies, videos and audio files BUT not to download them as they keep coming back I have seen this on a site where osCommerce was used to download music videos but they stayed in a catalog/movie.php file (either in .flv or .wm files) I would like to test this out .flv files that play in my own pages... i have the files and the player, and of-course the pages on the site - but not the technique. At very least, if no-one can advise, is it possible to open the files up in my standalone flash player? can anyone please guide me on this please? Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back! Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you? There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere. CHOOCH

dwimer Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 anyone please? I realize your post has been out there a long time -- apparently you already received the answer you were looking for, since I have never seen a followup or reply. Based on that assumption, could you provide some information to those who have installed the Download Controller 5.2 or 5.3 regarding basic functionality information for this contribution? I have installed the Download Controller 5.3, without error, but cannot figure out the details of how products are triggered or tagged as available for download. When testing for functionality, I could never get the download button to appear anywhere [this begs the question, for me, of when should I see the download option and where?]. I guess I just do not understand how to configure the products to qualify for download. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I cannot seem to find any thread discussing this contribution and the author is not answering any email. BTW: I have turned the option on in the administration panel.

phypon Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Hey Chooch, I'm extremely new to the cart system. Started 2 days ago. I too am using the osc for digital sales. Have you looked into osplayer or embedding the video? Just a suggestion. I'm not even sure if they would be applicable to your situation.
