changing cat box..

i would like to change the category box into different section drop down menu is this easy to do and how would i go about it. I would also like to change the outlining colours of the website, and add a blue fade bar as the heading to every box, but i would like some helpful hinters on how to go about this.

 

I believe most people would benifit from this post as it would show how to change the overall look and feel of the websites and make them more original and not jus tthe standard look.

I need to know how to do the same thing, I will be selling clothing, in my header I would like to have drop down menu's that say the following;

 

(Drop Down Box 1) Product Catagories - Mens / Womens / Youth / Toddler

(Drop Down Box 2) Product Subcatagories - T-Shirts / Polo's / Jumpers & Hoodies / Accesories

(Drop Down Box 3) Manufacturers - Nike / Adidas / PonyV / Converse

 

Can anyone help?
