siavash Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 i have bumped into a silly problem just wondering whether there's a possible link: the site accessed from certain places does not run the SSL pages (HTTPS) e.g. login, account, etc. basically a shopper would fail to continue shopping as a result. please note that the users don't get a 'page can't be displayed' or similar error. the only thing that happns is that they are taken to login page and the S from HTTPS disappears. i also suspect it can only be a cookie problem!? My session settings in admin are: Force Cookie Use: True Check SSL Session ID: True Check User Agent: True Check IP Address: True Prevent Spider Sessions: True Recreate Session: False can it be because we are forcing Cookie Use? or other settings above? however, if i want to keep the Session settings as above and get round the problem dscribed above (if there's any link) what do i need to do? as for SSL have checked with my host: they use the standard port 443 for SSL; and the network firewall that causes this problem has assured me that the outbound connectivity on port 443 (https) is not blocked. So i would discount the port problem. however, the problem still persists! thanks. Did you try? Did you fail? No matter! Try again. Fail again! But fail better!
siavash Posted November 2, 2005 Author Posted November 2, 2005 the following situation happens when you have set the "Check IP Address: True" in sessions in admin! as a result the site tries to validate the clients IP address on every page request. why it should cause a problem from when accessed from certain networks, i don't know. i have limited knowledge in this area. matbe someone can explain more? i have bumped into a silly problem just wondering whether there's a possible link: the site accessed from certain places does not run the SSL pages (HTTPS) e.g. login, account, etc. basically a shopper would fail to continue shopping as a result. please note that the users don't get a 'page can't be displayed' or similar error. the only thing that happns is that they are taken to login page and the S from HTTPS disappears. i also suspect it can only be a cookie problem!?
