Guest Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 osCommerce automatically switches to secure (https) mode for customers' sensitive data to be sent. If you've set up your configure.php files for SSL to be used, it will try to do that. You really should have this for any legitimate e-commerce. Folks will surf away from your store in droves if you don't. Get yourself an SSL Certificate now. Yes, they cost money. Do shop around, some deals are better than others. Sometimes your host will offer a very good deal. I got mine free with my hosting package. Some hosts will let you share their cert and this will work, but will have to be set up carefully. I think any real e-store should have its own dedicated cert. They aren't nearly as expensive as they used to be.
