sensualz
Hi, I'm trying to install oscommerce (new for me) on my new server, Maybe a bit to much of upgradin at once :) cause I get an errormessage and I do not know what to do with it. When I start installing, the procedures 'hangs' between step 1 and 2, actually I don't have a clue what we are going to do at step 2 :) When I lookup the errorlogs it says: [sun Oct 23 15:01:52 2005] [error] [client] File does not exist: /var/www/PURE-adult/sensualz/sensualz-com/html/_vti_bin [sun Oct 23 15:01:52 2005] [error] [client] File does not exist: /var/www/PURE-adult/sensualz/sensualz-com/html/MSOffice Do I have to make to make 2 emtpy folders with those names (_vti_bin and MSOffice) ? or am I not even close... Hope you can help me, kind regards, Remco
♥Vger
Those errors have nothing to do with osCommerce. FrontPage is looking for Frontpage folders which do not exist. The best advice is to get your hosting company to uninstall FrontPage extensions (if they were installed), and for you to then FTP to your website and delete all folders that begn with vti_ You cannot manage osCommerce using FrontPage. sensualz
Hi Vger, thnx for your quick response. I do not use frontpage, I use dreamweaver to build and upload the site and webmin to control my server, but on the server there is also no frontpage installed. Also there are no vti_bin folders installed, not on my site's folder, not on the root, nowhere... Hope you know what to do next. Thnx best regards Remco
♥Vger
Okay, I think there is a little confusion here between the install hanging at Step 2 and the error messages you see in your logs. Those error messages are most likely generated by hacking spiders trawling all websites on the internet and looking for vulnerable files they can exploit - and it's nothing to do with your problem. Read the 'Quick Install Guide' link below my name and if you've followed everything there then it may be that your hosting company has php5 installed on a server which does not output all error messages. You should check with them to see which version they use. Vger
sensualz
Yeah that's correct, the server was first using PHP5 only, then the program gave the 'known' error about the reister_global, but after activating php4 as well, that problem was solved. Just for info. I'll first check the quick install guide. By the way my server is an ADS so I can control as good as everything, to bad I do not understand it all :)
sensualz
I checked the install guide, just to be sure I put al the folders in chmod 777, but still the same problem... :(
♥Vger
Activating php4 will not resolve the Register Globals error. You need to edit php.ini and switch Register Gobals to 'on', or install the Register Globals Patch Files (link below my name). Vger
sensualz
Sorry I was'n clear on that, but I turned register_globals on already in the php.ini I could send you some info so you can see yourself, but I do not totally wanna mess up your sunday :)
sensualz
And even after uploading the patch... still the same... :(
♥Vger
Even though you have enabled php4 on your server it does not mean that it is running in place of php5. Look at the link below my name '$this in uploads.php' apply that and then see if you can get past stage two. Vger
sensualz
Ok, I uploaded the patch, I changed the file in admin/includes/classes/ but still the same... a hard one :S, btw thnx for your help so far
♥Vger
This looks to be a problem with the server. The best advice I can give you is to contact your hosting company and ask them to investigate. Vger

♥Vger
Mmm? You did set up a blank database before trying to start the install? Vger
sensualz
o o  I thought that was about a new mysql database, now I think you mean that everything in my HTML folder should be empty except for the oscommerce files, am I right? in my html-folder on the server is also an indexfile, for the time being so you can already go to a shop where I pay for monthly (and too much ofcourse :)) www.sensualz.com there is a favicon and there is a cgi-bin (not in the htmlfolder, but aside) Or do you mean somethin totally else, and is it just a simple something to do, hope so and... if so...:blush::blush:
♥Vger
You can have as many other html files as you like at the same level. As I said before get your hosting company to look at how the server is set up. There's no point in posting thousands of lines of code and hoping that someone will sort them out for you. We try to be helpful here - but not that helpful. Vger
