Browser based installation problem

Unpacking and copying files to the web directory has worked fine. I have been able to reach the install or upgrade page. When clicking on new install, I get the options page to import Catalog Database and Automatic Configuration. This is where the problem comes in.

No matter which combination I choose, the installation process will not progress to the next step. It doesn't show any errors, but just reloads this page.

(clicking continue on ../install/install.php changes the address to ../install/install.php?step2, but no form to link the database comes up)

Any suggestions? Could it be a setting in the php.ini?

Thanks,

Maarten

Your webspace probably has PHP5 - osCommerce is not forward compatible with this version of PHP, but there are solutions posted if you search 'PHP5' :D

I recently had a similar problem where installation stayed in step2. Register_long_arrays (in php.ini) needed to be set to ON.

This has not worked for me

my Environment is

MySQL 5.0.15

PHP 5.0.5

Apache 2.0.55

Windows XP Pro

oscommerce-2.2ms2-051113

Install hangs up on step 2, my assumption is it is because PHP5 uses mysqli_******* and php4 uses mysql_*******

wondering if anyone has done the manual labour of converting all the mysql statements to be php5 compliant, before I go and attempt this rather tedious feet my self.
