New Products in Category List

I found an explaination of how to add New Products to the Category List, but the line it told me to place the code after -

 

$info_box_contents = array();

$info_box_contents[] = array('text' => $categories_string);

 

Doesn't seem to exist. Any help finding a way, whether under Categories, or in a box of it's own, to include the New Products would be much appreciated.
