To accept credit cards you will need to either sign up with a third party processor (i.e. PayPal) or get a merchant account (either from your bank or through one of the many merchant account providors (google it). You can accept checks or money orders and have them mail it to you before you ship their order. You can offer COD terms. There are built in payment modules and numerous contributions to support all of these methods. Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.
ProjectGrizzly Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 Hi I am another newbie and want to process orders through paypal only. I have installed the paypal module but I don't see it listed as a payment option when someone goes to our checkout. When someone gets to the payment information part of the checkout, there are no payment methods available. Could someone give me a hand figuring this out? The site can be checked out here: www.smc-racing.com/shopping There are no active links to the shopping site yet, I'm just trying to get everything to work. Any help is appreciated, Darren
GraphicsGuy Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I don't personally use PayPal, but most payment modules have to be enabled after they are "installed". Go to Modules>Payment>PayPal and make sure "Enable PayPal Module" is set to true. Also set the sort order. If all that is set, then I don't know. If you have installed contributions, I suppose it is possible that something has corrupted one of the PayPal module files. ProjectGrizzly Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Still have problems but thx for ideas. Paypal module is installed. Enable paypal is set to "true". The sort order is also set. It is pretty much a fresh install of OSC, at this point I do not think there is a corrupted file. I enabled check/money order also just in case to see if that option functioned. When I get to the payment option of our checkout procedure, only check/money order is displaying, paypal is not. Does anyone else have any ideas/ or experienced this behaviour? Thanks, Darren
