knifeman Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Hi all, I am contemplating expanding my sales to Canada. I have shipped some orders already, but my shop is not set up to charge the extra shipping. I am not sure if I should install the zones in admin or if I need a contrib like shipping surcharge. I currently use a table rate based upon total dollars spent for anywhere in the US. I want to add $4 to the table rate shipping charge for orders to Canada. I do not have any shipping mods installed (USPS, UPS, fedex, etc) and I do not have product weights entered in the DB. Rather than start installing and uninstalling until I find the right one, i was hoping someone could tell me from experience which way would be best to accomplish the surcharge. Thanks, Tim
knifeman Posted October 21, 2005 Author Posted October 21, 2005 Well, I tried the shipping surcharge mod, but could not make it add a surcharge. I hope you are online Jack. This was in the instructions: Try to place an order. If the country of the test account is not listed in the country field in the admin section of this contribution, a surcharge will be applied. I had the US only listed, but could not get an order from CA to have a charge added to it. If it were working, how would I add 2 payment types? Like this? money order, credit card. Oh yeah, I also made sure to sort the order total to 5 and the surcharge to 4. I think this mod will suit my needs if i can make it work. I tried installing zones from admin, but just as I feared, it only works if you have weights for all the products. Plus it gave me a choice between the low US rate and the higher zone rate for CA. I am sure my customers will choose the low rate and negate having the zone rate installed.
