Some images just dont look good small, is there away to have each image custom size? remove the values of small_image_width and height in admin in the images area. Each pic will show in the size you uploaded it. on the other hand, the enlarge pic links will be the same size, so you may want to call a pic theat is way bigger in the popup file (create a floder called big and drop your huge images there, one for each product, with exactly the same name as you uploaded the thumb).
