♥Vger Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 No one here can tell you that. They're whatever your hosting company assigned to you when you set up an account. If it's your own server then you have to set them up yourself. Vger

Vger well you know vger. i disagree. i was able to answer it by not answering it. i put in my post that i am using the defaults. or put another way, it was simply what i was signed on as in linux. i am sure there are folks on this forum that use fedora and done a new install under root on a machine just to sample oscommerce. so please 'vger' - if you aren't going to help with a positive reply, just don't respond to any more of my posts. that way others who may understand that i am new to this may take a little more time to explain things. thanks, randy
♥Vger Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 This is an osCommerce forum, not a forum for people who are struggling to run their own dedicated servers. So please, if your question is about running your own dedicated server take it to somewhere more appropriate. Vger

Vger gosh - we could debate the relevance all day... i do not ask a question to offend you or only to be told, by you, to go somewhere else. if you own the forum, okay - i will take it somewherre else. if not, give other folks a chance to get help from others before you answer. especially if you are considered an authority by the forum. my questions are directly related to oscommerce setup and functionality on my dedicated fredora core 2 server. i actually wish someone would update the install procedures for beginners or stupid people like me. maybe if i can get through this without you hampering me, i will write them.... again, just freak'n ignore my posts if they offend you. there are others like me that need help and you don't have the right to form their opinions to help with your early replies! thanks, randy
♥Vger Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I'm not about to ignore your post. Lately this forum has been getting a very large number of posts from people who have bought cheap dedicated server packages which are unmanaged (that's why they're cheap). Then, when they can't set them up properly or get them to run osCommerce they come here looking for advice. There are plenty of forums in existence precisely for people who try to run their own dedicated servers - but this isn't one of them. there are others like me that need help Yes, there are - many others like you, and posts from them about their dedicated server problems don't belong on this forum any more than yours does. If you want I can ask one of the moderators to clarify this, even though I think I know what their answer will be. Vger
Guest Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 This is an osCommerce Forum, not a forum to teach systems management. Certain requirements/Assumptions/Prerequisites are listed in order for someone to be able to utilize osCommerce. Each host is different, as well as Windows is different than Linux/Fedora/Red Had/Free BSD, etc. and as such, those types of questions are to be answered in another forum, and not osCommerce Forum.
