MrE03
does anyone know if this is just a simple trick to do or is there a mod that does this? I am looking for some kind of way to have a category by parts and then a category thats below that shows by vehicle make. I tried just adding another category but theres no gap so it looks like its combined into one section. Also i noticed that it duplicates the item in easypopulate. Any help would be much appreciated. -Thanks
Guest
If you create a new category and place existing iproducts as links in it will that help? You will have additional categories with the same products but different combinations in other words.

Also i wanted to know if anyone knew how to put a gap in the categories so people can tell that one portion is to browse by that type of method and then below it have another way to browse products. adiwillow
There is a way round this that i've found...... i'm still in the process of testing it fully though... you need to use a combination of two contribs.. http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1537 (multiple categories per product) http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2306 (dropdownmenu ver2.0) This allows you to add a product in the normal way, and assign it to all or several vehicle manfuacturers and makes. You do this by using 'manufacturers' as your parts list, the topcategory as your make of car, and your subcategories as model of car. the search box is then replaced with a dropdown java search which contains Manufacturers > Categories > subcategories (parts>make>model in our case). At first glance it works well, but you will need a way of populating the database with all makes/models quicly (by hand would take you forever... i used easy populate and an excel file of all makes/models). Take a butchers here... www.demo.cadsnet.co.uk
