MrMcauber
Hi all, I'm new to OsCommerce but in the final stages of putting together my first store. I am having problems with my shipping costs. Using the Table Rate module it seems that the postage costs are being worked out per item. For example; I have the following table: 60:0.30,100:0.46,150:0.64,200:0.79,250:0.94,300:1.07 If I have 2 items as 20g weight each I would expect the shipping costs to be 30p (i.e. 2 x 20 = 40 which is less than 60 hence 30p) However the calculated cost is 60p! If I add another 20g product the shipping goes up by 30p to 90p I assumed the shipping costs were worked out on the TOTAL cumulative weight; is this not so? Have I done anything wrong? I have adjusted tare weight to 0; larger package pecentage increases to 0; handling charges = 0 am I missing something obvious? Thanks

Guest
I have the same problem. Anyone knows the solution? Well, I hope I figured out the issue here. On the configuration under shipping/packaging, package tare weight defaulted to 3. For instance: Your each item weight is 1.00 and tare weight is 3.00, so on the checkout, it will assume that your total weight is 4.00 (your item weight + tare weight = total weight). When you shipped out item, the postal office will weigh your items plus packaging so that's why the calculation is made for. Hope this helps,
MrMcauber
No, I have already altered the tare weight before posting original message! It seems to me as though the shipping calculation is not stepping through my table, but just using multiples of my first entry. my table starts: 60:0.30,100:0.46,150:0.64,200:0.79,250:0.94,300:1.07 if my basket weight is 120 then rather than charging 0.46 it charges 0.60; i.e. 2 x the 60 rate! and so it goes on, all my postage charges are worked out as a multiple of the first entry of 30p per 60g I cant be the only one to have had this problem can I? How have you filled in your admin->configuration->shipping/packaging->Maximum Package Weight ? As you are working in grams you should have a really big figure there assuming you are allowed to ship packages up to 20 kg. or something. If that value is set to 20 your packages will be divided based upon that and 40 grams will become two packages of 20 gram (which might be your set maximum package weight) and 2x 0.30 gives 0.60p
