lazyfish
hello everyone Im a newbie trying to install osc My problem is I'm making this shopping cart for a client and just bought a new domain for them which they paid for 2years.And that server is a windows based web server. I uploaded osc's catalog file to the web server, wrote the url to the browser and then started the installation.I've created a mysql account using the cp of hosting company.OSC is able to connect to mysql db but after that step, i get this error 'SQL file does not exist: /install/oscommerce.sql' now as you know i cant go out there and tell them to change the server that they bought a week ago.I'm pretty stuck here and i'm thinking about installing a offline server with mysql php IIS and all those things but I dont have alot of time. PLEASE HELP ME :) thx alot
♥Vger
Access the blank database you set up via phpMyAdmin and use the SQL tab to 'Browse' and locate the oscommerce.sql file on your computer, then click the 'Go' button and it will import the contents and set up the database. Then set up the two configure.php files manually (edit them yourself), and you've done the install. Vger

♥Vger
http_server = http://www.yourdomain.com http_cookie_domain = www.yourdomain.com DIR FS = your pathway to the root of your website (ask your hosts if you don't know) As for the rest take a look at other posts about configure.php files - there's loads of info. pantman
I am in exactly the same boat and have spent many hours just to get to this point. I cannot help you but just letting you know that you are not alone. I have installed the oscommerse file onto my db fine but still seem to have the same problems. Do you know of a nicer editing tool for the config files as notepad is a pain as all of the lines are seperated??? I am trying to load this to help my mother out who has had some problems with the people that have built her website and charged her ?600 for the oscommerse software and more??? for the shopping cart. If anyone wishes to help me then I have no problem in letting them know my server details and login passwords etc as once my point is made i will change them all anyway cheers Nick
