Hello

here is my problem summry...

When we click on a category from the left side infobox, the images of the sub-categories are shown on the main index page. We done want the images of the categories.

We however need a dropdown menu which lists all the subcategories of that specific category being shown only. We tried ourselves to do this. First we produced a dropdown menu which had all the top and the subcategories. Then we removeed the top ones. Now its a menu which has ALL the subcategories in it. We want to display it only those sub-categories whose top-category we select from the leftcolumn category infobox.

All the code is in the index.php and you'll be free to use it. I am sure its just a one line missing...like we are not using $current_category_id or $cPath in the right way or in the right piece code. Hence the budget has been small for this project.

I repeat, the matter is almost solved,

* we have created and produced the drop down menu

* We have inserted all the categories on to it

* we have removed most of the un-necessary categories from it (the top categories are removed)

Now we only want some one to experiment with the existing code and modify/change one/two lines so that the menu shows only the required sub-categories.

please help me to fix this issue...

try when calling the tep_get_current_paths to pass the current category id

you now have this:

passing the $current_category_id instead of the $cPath, should populate the drop down with the subcategories of the current category

i changed in someway, not when i click on the category, the default selection is sub-category from the same upper category, but the full categioires still shows, i mean the other sub categiores.. can you help with this

ok the query needs further mods I think because you want to compare the parent_id vs the category_id

Edit: Sorry that was wrong the sql should filter out the other categories

and also after you build the pull-down menu you need to terminate the form

I replaced the code with new one, now the top categiores shows, and also all the sub categiores shown on the same dropdown menu, which make us setp-back not forward...

any sugessions now?

I think the code works much better now

Find this:

'text' => tep_draw_pull_down_menu('cPath', tep_get_paths(array(array('id' => '', 'text' => PULL_DOWN_DEFAULT))), $cPath, 'onchange="this.form.submit();"')
);

replace it with this:

'text' => tep_draw_pull_down_menu('cPath', tep_get_paths(array(array('id' => '', 'text' => PULL_DOWN_DEFAULT)), $current_category_id), $cPath, 'onchange="this.form.submit();"')
);

Note: Use the modified function I posted. The one you say it shows all categories. It should work now because I pass the $current_category_id as the parent.

Edit: Watch the extra ): I've corrected the code to replace

it's now just make the default selection the parent categiory, and it still shows all the parent categiories and also all the sup categiories...

Ok I don't see anything wrong with this code. Lets see if this function is used. Reverse the process with the $current_category_id

from this:

And then modify the query in the function to hard-code the software category there.
