paying without having items in a cart?

hi,

along with letting visitors choose items and placing them in a cart for check out later is there a way to let visitors pay without the need to add items to a cart.

 

where they can just enter an amount and hit pay.

 

for example, a customer just needs to pay their balance, but is NOT actually selecting items to be put in a shopping cart.

 

 

any suggestions on this?

can you show me how this is done or where i can get it? i looked in Administration -> Modules, but didn't see anything for donation. i also did a search in the Contributions, but came up empty on it.
