KaiAnimation Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Hi- I just added the Purchase Without Account contribution. It was as painless as many of the other contributions. What I want to know is, did this contribution get you more customers? Danny If I'm giving advice, it is based on what path I would take to fix your problem. My path may be wrong.
dynamoeffects Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 That's a good question. And, if you've asked, do your customers who use it prefer it because they think their information isn't stored on your servers or because they think it'll take too much time to create an account? PWA doesn't make much sense to me. I'd rather just change the checkout procedure so that if they're not logged in, it starts asking for name, address, etc and creates an account for them during the checkout process. They'll be passed a cookie so that the next time they come back (if you set the cookie life to a year or so), all their information is already entered and they checkout even faster. I'd personally stop using a site if I had to re-enter my information everytime I bought something there. Of course, that's only if the store owner is NOT storing my credit card number. Please use the forums for support! I am happy to help you here, but I am unable to offer free technical support over instant messenger or e-mail.
nana Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 i have searched for an answer to this everywhere of course it depends on the type of the customers you are trying to attract. based on everything i heared and read these are the conclusions 1-you should not put an obstacle in front of your visitors when he is trying to make a purchase. On the other hand some people feel special when they have an account 2-customers that create an account are more likley to come back and purchase 3-shorter checkout is better 4-visitors do not want to create an account either because they may fear that you would use their info for othe purposes.or they do not want to spend the time and do not think they will come back 5-visitors are not your customers unless they buy something first so i moved the create an account after purchase take a look at my contribution

The less you have required the better. Definitely look at Frank's Contrib. I love the fact that you have several options for the customer to sign up IF they want to after the sale.
GraphicsGuy Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I just checked and 8% of our customers choose the PWA option. Those 8% may or may not have purchased if they didn't have that option. But the way I see it, why risk turning away a single customer when it is that easy to give them a choice. Better to run a store on the old Burger King premise, "have it your way". Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.

KaiAnimation Posted November 13, 2005 Author Posted November 13, 2005 Brushwood, I think you have a good point about the shortest fastest path is best. GraphicsGuy, you have a good point, too about not turning anyone away. I haven't checked to see the percentage of customers that have chosen the Purchase Without Account method versus purchase with account method. This would probably answer my original question. Even still, I think my question is a good topic to at least talk about. If I'm giving advice, it is based on what path I would take to fix your problem. My path may be wrong.
