Unique Attributes... (not the contrib)

Hi all,

 

I need a contrib or tip on how to accomplish this need I have. I need every attribute to be unique and only used once. Each attribute has a different model number, so I would like an attribute to be something like [ Blue 190328 ] where the number indicates the correct model number to order from the supplier.

 

EasyPopulate will do this, but not practically because each attribute requires it's own column, so 5,000 products with 20,000 attributes will be way too many columns to make this practical.

 

What ideally I would want is a few lines in the product editing page where I could just create an attribute or two right there, and maybe edit it from there at a later date.

 

Is anyone doing anything like this, or do you have an idea on how to accomplish this? What would it cost me to have someone code this if it doesn't exist, or is there anything else that might work?
