rstan
We have a problem with alot of customers addresses being changed to Alabama. On an invoice will get any number of the 3 addresses, customer, billing, shipping with a state as Alabama while the others will have the correct state. Anyone have any idea why the zone code for Alabama is insterted into the database like this?

Guest
Its the first state listed in the states box for US (did you use a contribution to set it as a default?). So if you create a new account and set a different state and place an order do you see this problem?

Guest
so what happens if you do not place a valid state in that edit box creating an account. Do you see the problem then?

Anyone have any idea why the zone code for Alabama is insterted into the database like this? On my site, you must type in the state name, not an abbreviation. If you type in the abbreviation, you then get sent to a page to correct your mistake and Alabama is prefilled in the box. I suppose a fix would be to void the autofill and force the customer to choose the correct state.
Guest
there are contributions to select the state from a drop-down list to avoid this kind of problem with non-filtered user input.
rstan
Ill have a look at the drop down contribs thanks. Our shop is international, we have orders daily all over the world. What I would like to see is something that would handle the address formats correctly. Anyone know of such a contrib? Ive looked and looked and looked some more. Guest
ok, see the contributions under the zones section Quite few of them have detailed zones for various countries. I know not all are covered but should help you a little. Once you install the zones, the default osc should pick up correct shipping/tax and address verifications.
