Google will, very occassionally, use the meta tags so it wouldn't hurt to add those. Jack Search engines are big on content and since you don't have any on your front page they will pull in the first bit of content they find that is relevant. In your case this happens to be that little greeting. If the greeting isn't all that important to you (I have removed it from my site), then replace it with a bit of content about your site that includes some of your keywords. If you want to keep that greeting, just add the content BEFORE the greeting and the engines will pick that up first. Regardless of what you do, you might want to look into putting some content on that page. Good luck!
