Hi guys,

I have recently used the osCommerce to create an online store for my shop, but am having no success getting it to send any emails to either a customer, or myself when an order is processed. how do i get it to do this, as I cant put the site 'live' until then!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hoffy,

I am having the exact same problem. When someone places an order with me, the money comes in to my paypal account but no email comes back from Oscommerce telling me what the customer has ordered.

If you get an answer I'd very grateful if you could email me the solution at [email protected].

Regards,

Paul

As far as I know that OSC doesn't email you if you have an order. If you have an email from PayPal or other payment method that is only way you can tell if you have an order.

Before you do any changes on your site you need to do BACKUP! BACKUP!

Hi,

OSC can email you a copy of the customers order, go into admin/configuration/my store and add your email address to this line 'Send Extra Order Emails To'.

Also with regards to the Paypal issue I suggest that you install the Paypal IPN contribution and not to use the stock module.

Thanks Mark, but I already have done that, as well as trying both settings for the mail, SMTP and sendmail...

Heres the annoying thing... via Admin>tools>send mail, I can send an email, however using the catalog, no emails are being sent/recieved....

I am using a hotmail account of my own to test new customers singup, , and nothing is being recieved.

Thanks to all here, but with the help of another member, we tracked down the problem lay with a bad piece of code in either of the following files...

/includes/classes/email.php

/includes/classes/mime.php

if you are experiencing problems, replace these two files with originals, as they dont effect any changes to layout, colors etc you may have done...
