cwg25
I'm looking to create an osCommerce cart and have no experience with it, though I may be savvy enough to get by with what I need. So I have some questions to see if it's worth it for me to learn osCommerce on my own or get some help with it. How would you describe the following scenario as far as difficulty to develop with osCommerce? I'm a web designer who has designed a site for a client. I'm going to be selling prints on there. About 130. There is an html page for each of these 130 prints. There are 13 different pricing options with different sizes and types of photo paper. I have the whole site done already. Ideally, I would like to have a dropdown menu on each page with each of the 13 different pricing options and a view cart and checkout buttons. There is also a range of 4 shipping price options and the payment gateway will be through Paypal. Will I be able to generate code in osCommerce that I could put into a dropdown menu? Do I absolutely need to use a template with osCommerce or can I get the code for each function somehow and put that within the html code myself? Is there a process similar to this in osCommerce? I'd imagine I could get the gist of it by watching somebody enter in one product and then just repeat the process myself. But how hard would it be to perform the above on my own? I've installed it and have checked out the admin section. I have experience with CMS and some database/html integration. I know how to create a MySQL database and some SQL commands. Thanks for any help! -Chris

Thanks for any help! -Chris I've only been working with osCommerce for a couple of months and I found that that possibilities seem limitless. Sounds like it will be perfect for what you want to do. I found that with each thing I want to do I check the contributions, then check the forums, or try to figure it out myself. With your experience I think you should have no problem. I've been designing websites for less than a year and I think I do fine. Hope this helps
ozEworks
A quick read of what you want to do seems to me that you do not understand oscommerce. You cannot wrap HTML around it. osCommerce *is* the site. You need to work out how to integrate your design into the code. You can hand code or use a template system. Given your background I imagine STS will be the easiest for you.
