greatbritishmarket.co.uk Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Hi Many thanks to the people who have posted on my last two topics helping me out with my new store. Basically I deleted all the code in Index.php but managed to re-do some of it but the site is split in two and in a bit of trouble. On my last post I wanted to know if someone had the original text which comes in the index.php file. Very sensibly people said it would easier for me to download a fresh clean new version. Now this is were it gets tough....I signed up for osCommerce through Lycos One Click Web Hosting, so I didn't do any of the FTP downloading and uploading etc. This means if I download a fresh version of osCommerce (which I have just done) I don't know if it will interfere with the Lycos set-up. As you can probably guess I am a complete newbie to this sort of thing and don't know much about FTP. I know you are all prbably laughng by now and wondering what the hell I am doing trying to use a program like os but I really want to learn PHP and by doing bits with my store I will learn but I need to get my index.php sorted. I did open the index.php file that I downloaded inthe install pack, open it in Notepad and copied an dpasted it into my store admin index.php file but it didn't work. I really, really, really need help. Thanks Steve (the newbie)
bobg7 Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Not knowing what version of osCommerce Lycos is using or what changes they may have made it's kind of hard to comment. My suggestion would be to get rid of the Lycos version and install a good clean copy downloaded from here. I say this so that when you want to add a contribution there will not be any chances of having version issues or interfering with something Lycos injected. You will always have an original copy to fall back on and you will always have the support of this forum when needed. Normally this forum will not give support for osCommerce versions that are downloaded from other sources other than the official osCommerce website. Installed Contributions: CCGV, Close Popup, Dynamic Meta Tags, Easy Populate, Froogle Data Feeder, Google Position, Infobox Header Entire Row, Live Support for OSC, PayPal Seal with CC images, Report_m Sales, Shop by Price Revised, SQL Updater, Who's Online Enhancement, Footer, GNA EP Assistant and still going.
