rhouseholder Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 My site was up and working great this morning, but now I am getting the following error. Could this be a problem my hosting company has caused or is it something I need to fix? www.support-your-sport.com error: Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111) in /var/www/html/shop/includes/functions/database.php on line 19 Unable to connect to database server! Thanks, Randy

rhouseholder Posted October 14, 2005 Author Posted October 14, 2005 It must have been the hosting company, because it came back up out of the blue... just like it went down. Why do they do this to me Thanks!
kgt Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Usually that error means the MySQL database server is not running. If they seem unable to keep the database server running consistently, it might be a bad sign. Take into account how long it appears down and how often, and ask them if they are doing any upgrading or maintenance on the server. As a precaution, make sure you have locals backups of your database and code. Contributions Discount Coupon Codes Donations
rhouseholder Posted October 14, 2005 Author Posted October 14, 2005 Thanks! As soon as it came back up, I made a quick backup... I'll keep an eye on them, they should not have it down in the middle of the day in my opinion.
