State Tax Rates Getting Globally Applied

Recommended Posts

I am trying to figure out how to configure my Colorado State Tax rate so that it does not charge purchases that are shipping to other states. Right now regardless of the State I choose to have my test purchase shipped to it is charging them tax. Seaching the forum I see that some have had simular issues but I have yet to find a detailed How-To in configuring this feature.

AFIK..this is the last step I have setting up OSC..whoohoo.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thx

Cody

To add some more detail....

I am following the instructions of Murasaki at: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/l....php/t7622.html

The piece I am still having a hardtime with is the Tax Zone Details. I have created a Tax Zone Called Colorado however when I then go to Details to select USA and Zone..the ONLY zone I see listed is All Zones and cannot select CO as the State.

I think this is causing the issue in ALL states getting charged CO sales tax

So not sure why it is working now exactly..but all I did was the following:

First, under Locations/Taxes->Tax Zones, create a zone named Colorado,

with a description of 'CO local sales tax zone'

Next, under Tax Classes, make sure you have at least one tax class,

named 'taxable goods'.

lastly, under Tax Rates, insert an entry with tax class set to 'taxable

goods', Zone: 'Colorado', rate: whatever yoru tax rate is, description:

'Colorado Sales Tax', priority: 1

In addition to this, make sure under Configuration->My Store, that

Country and Zone are set correctly, and the same with Shipping/Packing

locality info.

Still wasnt working but then I went and cleaned up a bunch of Countries under Location/Taxes-->Countries that I wasnt going to be shipping to...and finally under Zones--->Details--->United States-->I had Colorado listed vs. ONLY All Zones. BINGO
