eternal student
I currently have this set to authorize but what exactly does this entail ? Is it a better option to choose 'immediately charge' ? Could some one please clarify for me, because I am using Protx and when I log into the VSP admin area the transaction says: Authorised PREAUTH not yet REPEATed AND This transaction has not been settled. Does this have something to do with the oscommerce setting 'Authorization Type' ? many thanks in advance.

The choice is yours but you should ensure your protx module passes the auth or preauth as required. Also, idf you intend to use 3d secure with protx make sure you are passing the protocol version number as 2.22 or it will fail. F5
eternal student
So if I set it to immediately charge I wont have to authorize anything it will automatically do all of that with out my admin intervention ? Also you say set the protocol version number to 2.22. Is this ok to do without even changing the module in anyway ? thanks mate.

Like if you are drop shipping, it may be better to use preauth, then you wont charge until you have ordered, so you know you can get the goods. Also, dont forget that when you pre auth a sale, the value of th sale is shadowed on the users credit card, so they can not spend that money. if (like one of my clients) you forget to check for a week 2 things happen. the customer cant spend those funds and they dont get thier goods! (mind, hes loaded which is why he forgets to check!) Which protx module have you installed? (version from the contribs) and i seem to remember you going for protx direct, am i right? eternal student
ok I switched to immediate transcation and I still get: "This transaction has not been settled." In vspadmin ? It also says : "3D Secure results were not obtained for this transaction!" Does that mean it will not succeed ? So Do I need to change the protocol number to 2.22 manually and nothing else ? That is correct. When you make a sale the customers card is charged. That means the funds are reserved for you. You do not yet have them. Later, normally in the early hours of the morning, your transactions are settled, that is the funds are transferred to your bank. Protx send a flat file to the acquiring bank. they check the flat files contents against theirs. if they agree, they transfer the funds to your account. (that is a simplified version of what happens) 3d secure is not active on your account. Is this the vsp test account or have you asked protx to make the account live? 3d will only work if you have instructed the acquiring bank that you wish to use it. protx can not automatically add it to your account. F5 ps yes, just changing the protocol to 2.22 should be fine.
