need help seting my own page from os default page

I can't figure out how to get my info in place in the main text portion of the os commerce index page. can anyone help in langage the someone with little knowlege can understand. thanks kent

Kent - The default OSC install shows you the location on the main index page.

 

I believe is is located. [path to catalog]/includes/languages/english/index.php

Ronnie I can get to that page, I edit it save changes but when i go back nothing has changed. thanks kent

Don't use the osCommerce File Manager to edit files. Download the file via FTP and edit in a plain text editor like Notepad, then upload again.

 

Make sure that all of your folders have permissions of either 755 or 777, and that any file you wish to edit has permissions of 644.

I do'nt know how to download my ftp file? to notepad program. do I need a ftp program

You need to have an FTP programme on your computer, and to learn how to use it, if you are going to work with osCommerce.

 

I recommend you try the 30 day trial version of WS FTP Home (www.ipswitch.com).
