Integrate my HTML page design??? Help...

Hi, I'm new. Is there ANYONE out there who knows how/where to figure out changing pretty much the whole layout of the default template?? I want to use my own designed site, which is in HTML code. I know nothing about php. I do learn things pretty quickly, if I could get some pointers on how to start I'd be able to get going on it.

I need a very uniquely branded site. My design has already gotten approval from my business contacts, and I managed to pull it off so far in HTML. Now that I've started to go with this cart, and discovered it's in php...I'm lost. This is not something I researched.

Do I need to just throw in the towel and find another cart now? * project fork I'm finding no description of what files to go into to change the layout or css. Does everybody else think the default oscommerce site looks fine for their purposes??? I see it on my home page and I want to cry...

I can get around it by renaming (and disabling) the index.php and replacing it with my intended index.htm which links to my other pages/files, that allows pages to be viewed as I intended. But then...how would I stick the cart function in??? Does that defeat my purpose?

There are products on the web, such as Rapid PhP editor - which are WYSIWYG like Frontpage, for php. Is this anything that might help me? I feel trapped with this cart, I haven't seen a site yet using it that is as freeform as my design, so maybe it isn't even possible?

I am worried too, if I seek help, someone might create a template out of my design and use it for others, or trap me into needing them for every little change. I need to do this on my own somehow.

Please help with some info if you have it!!

Thanks,

be blessed :)

Beautiful design is everything...the rest is just details!!

A good starting point would be to install the Basic Template System. If you know CSS and HTML, and a little bit of PHP, you can then create your own template. But it won't happen overnight!

The first poster said everything I want to say...except I did a search for Basic Template System and found over 800 posts with those words in it but not that phrase. What am I doing wrong?? I need the same thing!! I just want to integrate the cart into my current site.
