rubicon
Hi everyone I have just installed osCommerce and it went fine. Very happy!! However on my front page it now says as Step 3 that I must secure the adminsitration panel. I believe this was mentioned in the documentation too as something to do with htaccess? I have searched through this site and am obviously blind as I can not see any clear explanation for securing (I assume with a password or something?) my administration panel? Given that I don't want people to be able to change the price of goods - this is crucial and I would love some help from someone. Thanks in advance - you're a hero. CompatibleCarts
Hi, what is the message that you get when it says this? What is the site address? Ed
rubicon
The site is at www.rubicononline.co.uk/shop/catalog There's no error message in pink as you can see, it just says "Securing The Administration Tool It is important to secure the Administration Tool as there is currently no security implementation available." and it mentions the same thing in the the installation documentation and refers briefly to an htacess file? How do I secure this beast then?!! Cheers Rubicon

rubicon
Thanks F5. I've checked and I have a .htaccess file in both my catalog and admin folder. What exactly do I do with them? I looked at your post and followed the link to the .htaccess generating software but given that I already have these files I assume I don't need that. Do I change the permissions on the file? How do I put a password on them? Anyone else know a good way to secure the admin panel? Any help much apprecaited. Rubicon
