teknonweb Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Hello, this is my first store. Please give feedback. Iwill accept all. Thank you Here is the link: Divine Divas
Avec Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 I am new to OSCommerce, but from a casual observer the images are very blury. Looks like smaller images enlargened without good results. There may be other reason. Also, I am not sure what the green words are supposed to say. 'World' appears the line above the rest, so I don't know if it is read first? Also the last word (beauty?) is appears very briefly before the whole thing disappears. It does look like you have an extensive site and based on the counter - lots of visitors. Good Luck.
Guest Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Hmm I'd say too many gradiants and colors. I would keep it to 5 colors maximum.

The words are supposed to stop looping. What browser are you using. I need to know so that I can fix the looping for that browser. I will change the flash to make Divine Divas come up first. Thank you for your critique, that is exactly what I needed. Hmm I'd say too many gradiants and colors. I would keep it to 5 colors maximum. Thanks. I will work on that. I thought it might be kindof loud myself.

RyanSmith Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 The colors are a bit much for me. The Flash looks very amature and the images you used are very pixalated. It looks like something from the late 1990's. I would either fix up your flash or get rid of alltogether. osCommerce is a great piece of software with wonderful contributions. Spend some time in the contribution area. There are a lot of gems there.
dynamoeffects Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 The resolution on my laptop is 1024x768 and I have to scroll horizontally, which is a big design no-no. Ideally, it should work for a minimum 800x600 resolution. You can buy some pretty nice templates for ~$50-60. Please use the forums for support! I am happy to help you here, but I am unable to offer free technical support over instant messenger or e-mail.

The colors you are talking about is in the Header right. I should get a better logo? The resolution on my laptop is 1024x768 and I have to scroll horizontally, which is a big design no-no. Ideally, it should work for a minimum 800x600 resolution. You can buy some pretty nice templates for ~$50-60. Ok. I will set it up for 800 x 600. Actually, the resolution on my computer is set up for 1024 X 768 and I do not have to scroll, but I do at 800 x600. Thanks, for the feedback. This helps alot. I have looked at the templates but it is too late to use them for this customer. I have put too many contributions in place.
radders Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 I'm afraid I have to be honest here. It needs some fairly basic design work to take it out of the early 1990s and bring it into the 21st century. A template isn't necessary (but might have been a shortcut at the beginning). At the moment there are a wide variety of colours and shapes and in-your-face flashy things. The left background is plain, the right background has wiggly things and the header repeats. It even tried to open a popup I think. If you do need to use images that have a different colour background from that of your site then put a border round them to make it a feature. The colour palette looks wrong to me. Have you checked on a colour palette website to see it these colours are supposed to go together?

I am coming back later and read through you suggestions and attack things one by. Thank you so, much.
tecno Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 these are all very simple and fast improvements that i think will make your site 10 times more trustworthy accessible and beautiful 1. Right column is WAY below the left one! Fix: includes/column_right.php copy & paste the includes to your includes/column_left.php and sort them how you want! ps. the shopping cart above specials 2. Search button is not a transparent .gif (seach on google images for like search.gif then select small images and just replace that old one) 3. you have no footer!!! they say footers are the new menu today, so put all your links, info, categories, certificates, banners etc. down there because people that scroll to the bottom need to move around. 4. your GeoTrust certificate is not pretty like some, so move it to your footer or left_column.php (make a new box by duplicating like whats_new and detele the contents and paste your certificate code there, rename the box to certificates and make a new include in column_left.php) 5. Keep the crazy gradients! its very authentic with you're selling and who your selling to (big Mama that needs a new do' and not the modern day techie like most people on here haha) 6. I dont see "about us"... duplicate like "contact us" delete all the contents and make some simple HTML coding to make your about us and make a link to it somewhere in your website or information box. search how to do that in this forum or contributions if that is too much
digilee Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 In addition to the forum rules, live stores discussed in this channel must be powered by osCommerce Online Merchant and have the "Powered by osCommerce" text displayed on the site. Not only is the osCommerce solution being used, but valuable feedback will also be presented by the osCommerce community. besides that, the usual basic errors ... if only one language why show a flag? stock OSC buttons no conditions information no ssl ... need i go on? Guest Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 I'm looking at all the osCommerce store I can to get ideas for a museum site I'm developing. Your site looks good - - except in the lower left corner of the main page there is some extraneous code you need to clean up.
Arctic Fox Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 The lower left corner issue is part of the original osCommerce tags which are in white and blend with the background. -->Copyright ©2008 DivineDivasWigs.com Powered by OsCommerce -Web Design TEKNON DESIGN-http://teknonweb.com '); ?>
Guest Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 RE: http://DivineDivasWigs.com Hi, nice site. I really enjoy your products. However, your design can be improved to make your beautiful products stand out. First, your customers have to do way too much scrolling on your homepage. I would shorten tis page and put some of your best stuff on it so your customers know what you're working with from the get go. :)
Zews Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Watch out the left column, that's a must. And, in my oppinion, get rid of the moving background, you'll get impressed knowing how many people get dizzy from watching images like this on a background.
Draeisme Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I agree, it made me a little dizzy too Watch out the left column, that's a must. And, in my oppinion, get rid of the moving background, you'll get impressed knowing how many people get dizzy from watching images like this on a background.
♥GLWalker Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 After 2 and a half years, how the heck did this come up for feedback again? You know, It is a good example of how not to build a site though. Don't like the moving background.
