Help w/changing text on index page

I changed some of the text on the sample index.php page and got this messages. I edited and saved the changes through the Tools>Define Langauges. I then tried to replace the text with the original text and still got the same message. What to do?

 

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/virtual/site295/fst/var/www/html/catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php on line 13

 

Just downloaded the program and have zero experience with php.

Ok, I got alot of views, but no advice. Would more background to the problem be useful? Can anyone help??

OK, this should get you back up and running.

 

Personally, I don't know why the DEV team refuses to fix this issue on the front page. They tell you to use the tools>>languages tool in admin, but that is absolutly, 100% what NOT to do. This tool is completly hosed. If you use this tool to edit language files, you WILL get errors.

 

Instead, use and FTP tool and a text editor. If you search through the forums you can find 100's of suggestions for free FTP and text editors.

 

Here's your code. Don't use the tool in the osC admin.
