Intermitent Authorize.net, database, transaction problem on live store. Help!

I will try to explain this best I can and please help me.

I finished customizing and configuring my store (for a client), and it is live since a week.

Most orders go smoothly through the Authorize.net module that comes with OsCommerce 2.2

But in some cases, the credit card gets billed twice by Authorize.net and no transaction is recorded in oscommerce!!! (admin section / orders = nothing in the name and amount that the credit card was billed)

 

I think maybe users of the store clicked twice on the order confirmation button, and tried but was not able to recreate the error.

I added text to the checkout pages saying to click only once the button and hope this will help.

 

I really wonder what can cause this.

 

Did any of you have a similar problem... My client is quite unhappy and I have a sore ear...

Try using a Contribution for Authorize.net instead of the stock one. i think i used "Consolidated" and it works fine. If everything else worked, you'd be seeing twin orders placed seconds apart. i get that now and then.

With the contribution, you get twin orders?
