Editing Files

I was able to find the files that I needed to edit but when I try to open it to edit in from the osCommerce file manager but when I click edit this message comes up at the top of the screen that says "Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right permissions on and then it lists the file. How do I set this permission? I didn't manually download osCommerce, it was an install from the control pannel of my hosting company. I also can't find these files on my hosting compnay file manager.

Hi Rose,

 

do not use the file manager, it is buggy and will destroy your files.

 

Get a free ftp program and download files to your local computr, then reupload them.

My host has an ftp file manager that allows me to do this but the files that I need I can find on osCommerce but can't find on the file manager.

which file is it that you cannot find?

 

you should always have a vanilla osC version on your computer, for reference and for easy file name search
