hi,

i have been reading this forum for absolutely ages, and have read the installtion procedure too many times!

i know people have asked this a milliontimes, and i sincerely apologise to you all, but i really need to know how to SET THIS THING UP!!!

on vger's tutorial for quick installation http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=162231 , i have got to number 3:

'3. If you want your shop to be available at http://www.yourdomain.com/catalog then upload the whole of the catalog folder to the root directory of your website via FTP. If you want the site to be available at http://www.yourdomain.com then just upload all of the contents of the catalog folder, but not the folder itself.'

i have tried to do the above but cant even do that! i am running on dot5 hosting, i have the ftp window open, but it wont let upload the 'catalog' file. am i being stupid?!

please someone help!

many thanks,

jay.

Firstly, why do you need to upload the 'catalog' folder. I've just looked at their site and they advertise 3 shopping carts as part of every hosting package (one of which is osCommerce). You should be able to run an auto-install via your web hosting control panel (vDeck).

Secondly, can you upload any files via FTP? If the answer is 'no' then make sure that FTP is set to operate in Passive Mode.
