sabra
 I'm sorry, if this is a simple question. I was left with the web site, and now an employee is leaving. I need to change the password for the admin, so they can't get in and mess things up. Please direct me to the answer. I do have cPanel, but cannot see where the admin is being protected. Thanks, Sabra
kgt
Here is a CPanel Manual: http://www.cpanel.net/docs/cpanel/ Somewhere in your Cpanel, you should find a link to "Password Protect Directories" or something similar. I have found that directory, but I don't find where admin is being protected, yet I have to have a username and password to access the admin for osCom. I see a lock by one file, but it is not admin. Is there somewhere in osCom where it is protected? Or somewhere else in cPanel? Obviously, I am a noobie to managing a site like this, so please use small words. Thanks. :)

Answers: "Possibly" and "Possibly." There are contributions that allow for a password protected admin section that is not based on HTTP Authentication, but you'd have had to install those yourself. When you go to the admin section, if there is a box that pops up and asks for your login information, then it is HTTP Authentication, which is handled through the webserver. Your web host can provide you with support to make sure the directory is protected. They can modify CPanel, so it's not always going to operate the same from host to host. So, yes, possibly there's another way to do it through CPanel (not likely). Contributions Discount Coupon Codes Donations

Someone else installed OsCom for me and I couldnt figure out how to login. My admin is protected via my Cpanel . I knew this because there is a box that pops up requesting login information when I go to my OsCommerce admin page. I logged into my Cpanel and looked for "Web Protect" or password protected directories. The login username was listed there. I created a new login.
