dauerc Posted October 5, 2005 Share Posted October 5, 2005 I am having a shipping problem and am wondering if anyone has a similiar use of osCommerce and has found a solution. We are a music store, and often when shipping UPS (Our prefered shipper, and currently the only shipping option) the items we ship are large enough that shipping prices are calculated on the size of the item, and not the weight. This is causing the shipping prices on items to be WAY to low. If I add a handling fee, that will make small items too expensive. I could find and modify the shipping price module to calculate as I want, but this would create an inflated price on smaller items. Price is never an indicator of size/weight, so I could not just say anything over x dollars calculate differently. The two ideas I have right now are to go to fixed price shipping per item (For which a module exists) or to artifically increase the weight of the item to get the right price. The second option would require me to remove the weight from the shipping options page, but could also cause REALLY large items to be unshippable. Neither option is ideal, but both could be a reasonable answers. The first being the most likely. A third option may be to write my own mod, but time and resources will be issues with this more ideal option. What are other thoughts or ways of handling this? Thanks in advance....
