parma Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I have read a few forum posts but have had no feel help on what I should do if I want to process the credit card details offline. It would be good if you could advise me on what encryption methods should be used. Could someone please tell me which of the contributions does this? Kind regards M Parmar
♥Vger Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 1. You need a merchant id. 2. You need a virtual terminal to a bank or card processing company 3. You need to use an updated version of the default Credit Card (CC) Module in osCommerce to collect the data. 4. Then you take the data collected to your virtual terminal and enter the card details. parma Posted October 3, 2005 Author Posted October 3, 2005 Thanks for the reply. We have a credit card terminal on premises, so rather than signing up for another card merchant we would like to use that. Its www.streamline.com, though I havent seen it in the contributions yet. I just installed this contribution however, it doesnt allow Mastercard which is strange. CC_CVV+UK Switch v1.0 Sorry I didnt really understand those steps 1. Where do I get a merchant ID? (does this mean I need to signup to a online merchant?) 2. We would like to use our on site credit card terminal to process the orders 3. I think (hopefully) CC_CVV+UK Switch v1.0 was the updated version. If not do you know which one it could be on the contributions? Regards Thanks in advance M Parmar
♥Vger Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 If you have an on-site card terminal then you already have a merchant id. As for which Contribution updates the standard Credit Card module - I just know such a Contribution does exist, but you will have to search for it yourself. Vger
parma Posted October 3, 2005 Author Posted October 3, 2005 Is there any use of my Merchant ID if the provider does not have support for oscommerce and a contribution hasnt been made? Am I supposed to use that ID on the default Credit Card module? Thanks ill try finding a newer version of the CC Module on the contributions Regards M Parmar
KeyWest Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I need to incorporate this same functionality in my website. Could you direct me to where you found the credit card module, cc_cw+uk, switch v1.0. I did some searching and found several contributions, but none identified the module you mentioned. Thanks Is there any use of my Merchant ID if the provider does not have support for oscommerce and a contribution hasnt been made? Am I supposed to use that ID on the default Credit Card module? They may be mighty miffed if you don't tell them, I'd look in the paperwork you got when you set your account up. Generally you need to tell the bank you are trading online and more often than not they charge you extra. One of my clients has a streamline merchant account (Issued by Natwest?) - they tried thier hardest to push him to using worldpay, in the end he opted for protx. F5
parma Posted October 3, 2005 Author Posted October 3, 2005 Firsty KeyWest here is the link for the contribution http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...,all/search,cvv Flyer 5, yes it is Natwest Streamline. I have checked on their website and they do have a online merchant scheme but is there anyway they can be linked to the oscommerce payment modules? If not which are the best merchants for a uk company. Its just there is no point paying for 2 merchants to do the same job. Ill try speaking to streamline tomorrow about whether it is ok to use them from online transactions but I would really like it if we could capture all payment and order details on an email and then process them offline. Regards Thanks M Parmar

Regards Thanks M Parmar Hi I have just been in exactly the same situation with a client. You will find that Streamline/natwest will not let you use your current account to trade online. They will insist on you having a seperate merchant id. You will need to apply for this, and they probably will visit you. Next you will need a psp, and they will push worldpay which I am convinced they have shares in, but it is ultimately your choice, you could choose paypal, worldpay, nochex, protx, etc. My favourite is Protx. if you decided on protx you would pay ?20 a month to them, plus mayb an extra percent on your streamline account, ; Online selling can be costly but you must consider security, the data protection act and your customers. If you do intend collecting credit card numbers you should never have the whole number sent in an email. If you intend storing customers card details on your pc you should tell them, also, is the pc secure? who has access etc. what if the pc is nicked? would the thief then have easy access to a collection of card details? Its a minefield and you shouldnt rush into it, but consider each part carefully. Also, there are some very experienced people in the forums with vast knowledge, you should listen to thier advice, then decide waht to do. F5
parma Posted October 4, 2005 Author Posted October 4, 2005 Hey. I do not host the site myself, we use Bluehost.com. I have also purchased a secure certificate to ensure the site is secured with ssl. I will double check with streamline today as they seem to have a few online solutions. I do not wish to store their credit card details, maybe delete the emails once the card has gone through successfully and use one of the contributions to encrypt the data in the emails. Regards M Parmar
♥Vger Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 There are only two UK banks which are up to speed on trading on the internet, accepting orders via debit/credit card online also via mail and via phone, and they are Barclays and HSBC. They both have osCommerce modules available, and of the two the HSBC e-Secure system is superior to Barclays ePDQ - even though the both use the same back-end software system. Vger
