Olimess Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 HI Everyone, Very soon I will be having an issue with my oscommerce shop ... and I'm DREADING IT! Basically, here's my problem in a nutshell. I sell a limited amount of products on my website and so normally it is very easy to maintian, with the exception of one product. This particular product has several attributes associated with it and works like this: Product A: Left Setting Attributes: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Right Setting Attributes: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Property Attributes: Clear, Grey Color Attributes: Blue, Purple, Black, White When an order is made, I build the product accoring to the specifications defined by the user. Seems fairly easy and straight-forward. The problem I have run into however, and I'm sure there is a simple solution to this, is what do I do in a situation where I can no longer offer certian Color options for the property attribute "Clear" for example. In other words, can the selection of one attribute affect the other. If the user selects Grey as the property attibute, they can also choose a color from the full color attributes list, however, if the user chooses Clear as the property attribute, they can only select Black and White from the Color attribute list. Any ideas? To expand on this a little further, I will give a little background. I have recently decide to sell a similar product to my original and will be replacing my entire stock with this newer product. I'm basically replace the old with new. In the meantime, I have to deminish my current stock so I don't want to advertise my new item online yet. Is it possible to have a "hidden" product page that the user could be directed to should they order a product that is out of stock? For example, in the example above. A user could order a product with a left and right property of 3 ... but I no longer have the old product available in 3's. Is it then possible to tell the user, that the current item is sold out but you may continue to place your order by choosing to purchase the new (hidden) item in 3's. Any Ideas on this one??? Hahahah. I'm thinking this is getting much tougher to do. If anyone has any ideas of how to easily handle these situations or any quick fix ideas that could handle these situations please let me know. As always, osCommerce is GREATLY appreciated and has allowed many of us "common-folk" to become entreprenuers. Thanks. Ol The problem then becomes, what do I do if I can no longer offer Product A with a left or right attibute setting of
Olimess Posted October 3, 2005 Author Posted October 3, 2005 Is there a contribution out there to handle these sort of circumstances? Anybody?
