doktorwunder Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Hi, I'd like to add a product ID field to products description but I'm don't know how to do... I've been looking for a contribution but I'm not sure which one would be accurate. Anybody knows? Thanks!!! Dr.Wunder Always need help :(
♥Vger Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Try using the 'Model' field when you add items to your 'Catalog' in osC admin. Vger
doktorwunder Posted October 3, 2005 Author Posted October 3, 2005 Try using the 'Model' field when you add items to your 'Catalog' in osC admin.Vger Yah, actually I already use that field for the year of products... But I had the same idea and tried to add a product ID in the same field. So I typed something like : 'Ref : LNGCRST001 - 1940's' And when I checked in my catalog to see how it looked... I was surprised to see that instead of 'Ref : LNGCRST001 - 1940's', only 'Ref : - 1940's' was listed below the name of the product. Weird, isn't it? Can you explain that? GraphicsGuy Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 That is strange. How about using the "Manufacturers" field for the decade classification. Then just put a part number in the "model" field. That would be the easier solution, but if you are already using the manufacturers filed then this contrib adds a field to a product: Product Extra Fields hth Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.
radders Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Note also that the model field is defined in the database with a maximum length of around around 12 characters. You can increase that in your database.

Thanks a lot :) Dr.Wunder Always need help :(
