Navigation to catalog page

Hi,

I know the answer must be in here somewhere but I can no find it,can you help. At present when I click on catalog on the nav bar it goes to www.---.--.---/index.php I would like to change it so it goes back to my catalouge page without the /index.php on the end?

When you first arrive on that page it does not show as being index.php in the address bar (even though it is index.php) - but when you go back to it from somewhere else in the site it then shows as index.php - it is the same page.

I nned to add ssl for customer login page and after the procee only. How can i do this ? if u know pls explain in step by step procedure.
